Stealing an ATM yields $600 worth of Dirty Money after drilling and collection. Dirty Money is currently a future-use inventory item: it cannot be spent in shops or deposited in the bank. Laundering is not available. Drill bits still cost spendable cash. Delivery and register robberies remain ways to earn clean cash.

Prepare

You need:
  • A Civilian character with Strength 1 or higher.
  • An available Toolkit in your inventory. Items listed for sale are unavailable for this activity.
  • Enough carry space for one Stolen ATM, which weighs 30 of your 60 weight allowance.
  • Access to your own house plot and drill press. A free Starter plot works when available.
  • Drill bits, sold at Industrial supplies for $35 each. Bring spares.
You can process one ATM at a time. The Toolkit is required for theft but is not consumed. Bits are consumed when installed or replaced.

Steal and carry the ATM

1

Approach an available ATM

Equip your Toolkit from the hotbar to hold its crowbar, then approach the front of an available ATM. Steal ATM appears from a comfortable distance; you do not need to be within arm’s reach or precisely facing it. Put the crowbar away to use ordinary banking.
2

Begin the theft

Activate Steal ATM deliberately. With a clear, level approach, your character adjusts into position automatically. If the way is blocked, move closer and clear the approach before trying again. Once theft starts, you become wanted for three minutes.
3

Release the mounts

Drag the crowbar handle into its highlighted leverage arc and maintain pressure to release three mounts. Release between mounts. Keyboard players can hold Space; controller players can hold X. Keep the crowbar equipped and stay standing, nearby and alive. The mounts are spread across the existing 20-second minimum theft activity.
4

Carry the cabinet

Carry the stolen cabinet home slowly, or use your Utility Van. Carry ATM and Put down ATM are available through Inventory when appropriate; move close to a cabinet you have set down before lifting it again.
Starting theft puts that ATM on a three-minute theft cooldown. After successful theft, a replacement appears after 180 seconds, independently of how long you spend opening the stolen cabinet.

Transport in a van

The Utility Van costs $4,500 and carries exactly one stolen ATM. The Compact cannot carry an ATM.
1

Park at the rear doors

Park your own Utility Van and carry the ATM to its rear cargo doors.
2

Open and load

Choose Open rear doors, then Load ATM. Stay nearby until loading finishes. Approaching the van alone does not load it.
3

Secure the doors

The cabinet remains visibly secured in the rear cargo area. Close the doors before driving home.
4

Unload at home

Park, approach the rear, open the doors and choose Unload ATM. Carry the same cabinet to your press.
Unload before returning, listing or selling the van. If the vehicle disappears after death or reconnecting, spawn that same van at Garage to recover its loaded ATM. The cabinet and any saved drilling work remain yours. This vehicle has no general cargo inventory.

Set up the drill press

1

Bring the cabinet inside

Bring the cabinet inside your own house, near the bench and press.
2

Start at your press

Interact with your drill press and start drilling. Stay inside and close to the machine for setup.
3

Install a bit

One Drill bit is installed from your inventory. The cabinet settles onto its side on the press table. Once placed, you can walk normally; the installed cabinet appears as the active machine job rather than an available inventory item.
4

Let automatic work run

Once started, drilling runs automatically while the responsible character is online. You can close the panel and move away.
The machine diagram shows opening progress, bit condition and available spares. The job requires 360 seconds of productive work at the steady automatic rate: about six minutes of actual drilling, plus setup, bit changes and other pauses. Each bit lasts a randomly selected 30–120 seconds of productive work. When a bit breaks, return to the press. Select the broken bit in the chuck to remove it, then drag a spare into the chuck. You can also select the spare and then select the chuck using click, tap or controller selection. A successful replacement consumes one spare and resumes automatic drilling. Carrying spares alone does not install them.
Expand manual controls only if you want to adjust the press while standing nearby. Hold the displayed drill control and adjust pressure using its buttons, arrows or D-pad as prompted. Higher pressure can work faster but builds heat; overheating pauses progress until the press cools.Closing the panel or releasing manual input returns the enabled press to automatic operation. Use the explicit pause action to stop the job; resume it at the press when ready. Going offline also stops work. There is no offline drilling progress.

Retrieve the reward

1

Return to the opened cabinet

When drilling finishes, return to your press and stand in front of the opened ATM’s lower hatch, facing it.
2

Open the compartment

Choose Open cash compartment.
3

Retrieve all three bundles

Take the front bundle first. Drag each bundle into the collection bag, or select a bundle and then the bag. There are three bundles totaling $600.
4

Secure Dirty Money

After all bundles are retrieved, choose Secure Dirty Money. The full reward is stored together in Pockets as Dirty Money · $600; moving one bundle alone does not award money. Your cash and bank balances do not increase.
Cash retrieval has a two-minute session. If it closes, expires or becomes unavailable after you move away, approach the hatch and reopen it. Unsecured bundle movement is not a partial payout. Successful collection removes the stolen ATM from your inventory. Its emptied cabinet remains open at the press until that press is reused, plot access ends or its three-minute cleanup expires.

Store Dirty Money

Inventory shows each stack’s dollar value and your total Dirty Money value. Split or merge stacks and use the normal Pocket and nearby-ground interactions without changing that value. Dirty Money remains separate from spendable cash through reconnects and saved inventory recovery. Ground drops are temporary; carry your reward if you want to keep it. Laundering has not been implemented, and Dirty Money cannot be sold through player shop listings.
Do not change house designs during an ATM job. Finish or recover the job first.
